Didsbury High School students celebrated National Poetry Day last term.
All students ignited their creativity when crafting a range of poems centred around the theme of ‘starting High School’. Students came forwards with a range of poems including acrostic, haiku, sonnets and prose-style.
The different forms of poetry highlighted the progress the students have made; from the nerve-wracking ‘night before’ to the exhilarating highs of new friends, the new building, new teachers and topics!
National Poetry Day also saw an incredibly competitive treasure hunt. Following clues, students stampeded around school in a race to construct a pre-written poem. A video of the poem being performed by staff was played at our recent Tutor Evening alongside some poems written by students.
We celebrate such literary events at Didsbury High School and it was fabulous to see our school community engage and enjoy the wonder that is poetry.
