On Monday 27th November 2023, students from Didsbury High School put on a fantastic show in this year’s Dance Showcase: Free to Fly.
As the first year to have a full secondary school cohort, it was an exciting moment to see students from Year 7 all the way through to Year 11 performing together.
Our fantastic dancers performed in a variety of styles, with some even choreographing their own routines!
From solo routines ranging from Blank Space to Bollywood Blast, to larger group performances of Juicy and The Other Side, audiences were treated to an evening full of entertainment.
As well as being a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents, the dance showcase is also a valuable learning experience.
Through the process of practicing and performing, the students develop not only their dancing skills, but also their self-confidence, collaboration, creativity and resilience.
Directors of the Showcase, Mrs McCarthy and Miss Dale, said:
“It is a true honour to have seen our Year 11s develop their skills over the last five years.
“Across all year groups, we have such talented students who never cease to amaze us with their hard work and dedication to their art.”
After spending many hours developing and rehearsing their routines, students mesmerised audiences with their talented performances.
These students continue to impress us with their abilities and passion, and it was a spectacular evening watching them perform to our school community.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our dancers, choreographers and the teams working behind the scenes to make the evening such a success.
Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us for your continued support – we hope you enjoyed the Free to Fly Dance Showcase!
