As we close our doors for the summer holidays, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on an amazing year at Didsbury High School.
As the school year comes to an end and we prepare for the summer break, it’s time to reflect on the incredible achievements, memorable moments, and inspiring experiences that have defined our year at Didsbury High School.
Here are just some of the highlights that made 2024 a year to remember.
Year 7 get inspired at Benedetti Strings Day
In January, our Year 7 students had the amazing opportunity to attend the Benedetti Foundation Young People’s String day at Stockport Town Hall.
This event allowed our budding musicians to learn from world-renowned musicians, honing their skills and playing in a large orchestra with students from schools across the region.
The day ended in a spectacular performance for parents and carers that showcased their progress.
It was an inspiring experience which left a lasting impact on our students!
Stunning Performances in Oliver!
March brought the spotlight to our talented students as they took to the stage in our school production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver!
The performances were nothing short of spectacular, with students showcasing their acting, dancing and musical abilities.
The hard work and dedication of the cast, musicians and crew was evident in every scene, earning standing ovations from the audience on all three nights.
We’re beyond proud of our students and staff for putting on such a brilliant show, and we can’t wait to see what they can do in next year’s production!
We are Ofsted Outstanding!
This year, we received our first ever Ofsted report and were delighted to be rated Outstanding in all areas, including our new Sixth Form.
This rating is a testament to the hard work and brilliance of our students, staff and entire school community.
We are incredibly proud of this recognition and will continue to strive for excellence in all areas.
Basketball Team’s National Triumph
Our Under 16 Basketball team impressed with a top 4 finish in Basketball England’s Dynamik National Schools competition.
Competing against some of the best teams in the nation, our players demonstrated great skill, sportsmanship and resilience, representing our school with pride.
To finish in the final 4 teams in the country is a huge achievement – one that has motivated our athletes to keep on pushing for more!
Unforgettable International Adventures
We’ve enjoyed some fantastic international school trips this year!
Back in February, Year 11 History students had the opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Berlin.
March saw our Year 11 Geographers set off on a breathtaking adventure in Iceland – they even got to see the northern lights!
April’s ski trip to Italy offered thrills on the slopes and a taste of Italian culture.
Most recently, Year 8 students enjoyed immersive language trips to France and Spain, enhancing their linguistic skills and cultural understanding.
A Milestone Year for Our Sixth Form
This academic year marked the much-anticipated grand opening of our Sixth Form!
Our Sixth Formers have excelled this year and truly set an example for the younger students in school. We cannot wait to see what they achieve next as they move into Year 13, and we look forward to welcoming our new Year 12 cohort.
Watch our Director of Sixth Form, Mr Theobold’s end of year message:
