Towards the end of last term, 25 of our students took part in a virtual poetry workshop with Olivia Mulligan, BBC Radio York’s Poet Laureate.
They were nominated by their English teachers for continuous hard work and had the chance to work with Olivia, looking at her poems and working on some of their own.
Olivia shared some of the poems from her latest collection, Poems on the Gatepost, which she wrote while in lockdown and shielding.
Students then had the opportunity to carry out collective work as a class before taking part in discussion, feedback and a Q & A session with Olivia, to find out more about her writing career and the creative process.
It was a fantastic day so thanks to Olivia for this wonderful opportunity.
